In an age of stick-thin celebrities and eating disorders, many people are confused about the truth regarding ideal body weight. Surely being a size zero is not ideal, but neither is wearing extra-extra-large clothes. An ideal body weight is usually somewhere between these two extremes.

One way to find your ideal body weight is to use an ideal weight chart. An ideal weight chart usually has a column for height combined with rows for weight. When you find where these two match for you on the chart, you will see what your ideal body weight is. Usually this is a range, because bone structure and muscle density do play a part in an ideal weight for each individual. If you fall somewhere inside this ideal body weight range, you are in good shape.

Another way to find your ideal weight is with an ideal weight calculator. These are easily found on the internet. They work like the chart, but instead of finding your age and height on a chart, you input it into the ideal weight calculator. Many of these calculators also have you put in information about your frame size. Then the ideal weight calculator gives you your ideal weight range.

Before you start dieting, you know what your ideal body weight is. This will give you a target to reach for as you being the weight loss journey. Otherwise, you may be aiming too low or too high, thus missing out on optimum health.
